Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q:   What does it take to be a member of the Kitsap Chordsmen?

A:   First and foremost, a love of singing.

You must be able to match a pitch... to hear a pitch and recreate it accurately. Almost ALL men can do this, whether or not they believe it.

You must be willing to dedicate the time and energy to be a good member, the same as you would with any organization. Your brothers will be depending on you to carry your part, both vocally and organizationally.

Q:   I can’t read music. Can I still be a member?

A:   YES! There are many ways to learn your music. We can help.

Q:   My voice is not very strong. Can I still be a member?

A:   YES! You will make us stronger, and vice versa.

Q:   I just wanna’ sing. Do I have to dance around and stuff, too?

A:   Yes, you must be able to join in the physical expression of music, as well as the vocal expression.

Q:   What is the cost of membership?

A:   There are costs involved with membership:

Annual Society, District & Chapter dues total less than $17 per month.

You are expected to purchase a black tuxedo before you can join us in our performances.

You will be expected to join us at contests, which have registrations costs, and costs related to travel and lodging.

It is not cheap, but it is less expensive than many hobbies. And the “dollars per unit enjoyment” ratio is guaranteed to be a much better value! We can assist those in need, and have special discounts for students and seniors.

Q:   Can I just try it out without making any kind of commitment?

A:   Absolutely! We encourage potential members to attend a few rehearsals before considering membership.

Q:   Where can I get more information?

A:         Ask the person who asked you about singing with us. or visit our website at www.singkitsap.org . You can call us (360-337-SING) or you can just stop in and visit one of our rehearsals. We meet from 7:00 - 10:00 pm every Wednesday.
